Young at Heart  Seniors Ministry

While our bodies will age with time and sometimes fail us, through Jesus Christ we all can remain “Young at Heart”.  At Gateway Baptist Church, our senior members actively join in Christian fellowship and mutual care. Out goals are to set a Christian influence by being a witness and example for Christ, pray for our church, its members and its leaders at all times.

We strive to have at least one activity per month consisting of a program that provides Christian fellowship, enjoyable activities, quality entertainment and delicious food.  Activities range from a “Dinner and a Movie”, “Bingo and Pizza”, our annual “Lake Holt Picnic & Corn-hole Tournament” and also day trips to interesting places throughout North Carolina.

For 2019, here are some of the activities we have planned!

 At the church fellowship hall:

           -Pizza “Yard Sale” Bingo

           - Day Trips :

-“Trail of Faith” - Valdese, NC

The seniors have a very comprehensive program to keep in touch with all of our seniors especially the shut ins. This includes sending each senior birthday cards, anniversary cards, sick or hospitalization get well cards and family bereavement cards. We currently have around 50 or so seniors that are divided into groups with a team coordinator assigned to each group. The coordinators assist in planning activities and ensuring that all seniors are informed of all activities and aware of all sick, ailing or hospitalized members of the group and church family.
