The ABC's of Becoming A Christian

"A" stands for Admit.

A person must admit to God that he/she is a sinner. They must be sorry for their sin and
turn away from sinning. Here are few verses that support this:

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
      Romans 6:23

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing
shall come from the presence of the Lord." Acts 3:19

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
      unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

"B" stands for Believe.

A person must believe that Jesus is God's Son and that God sent Jesus to pay the penalty
for sin, which was dying on an old rugged cross. Verses about believing include:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me."
      John 14:6

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"C" stands for Confess.

A person must confess their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Read Romans
     10:9-10

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
      raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13

After the ABC's, and you have admitted, repented of your sins, and believe that Jesus is God's Son and was sent to die for your sins, there is the sinners prayer. This is a simple prayer that asks Jesus into your heart and your life, and you want to live for him. Here is a version of the sinners prayer:

"Dear God, thank You for choosing to love me! I know I am a sinner. I believe You sent Your Son, Jesus
Christ, to die for my sins. I believe He rose again and lives today. Today, I repent and turn away from my
sin. Thank You for Your wonderful love and for changing my life forever. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."

If you have just done the ABC's for the first time, and truly believe it, you are now a Child of God! Now from this day forward you are to follow Jesus Christ's teachings. Go forth and spread the word of the living Saviour. Contact someone, share the good news, and tell others what Christ can do for them!

Romans Road of Scripture

I. Romans 3:10

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.

II. Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

 III. Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

IV. Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

V. Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.

VI. Romans 10:9-11

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with
the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

VII. Romans 10:13

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
